Sustainable Development in the Bangkok Post and Washington Times

by Tim Wilson, August 9, 2010

Today Sustainable Development was invited to publish an article in the Bangkok Post. The article is here.

While the impact of green protectionism is real for consumers in developed countries like Australia, the worst impact will be on jobs and investment in the developing world.

Unfortunately the impact of protectionist policies is often lost in developed countries like Australia. Though fortunately the Washington Times understands and also accepted a post from Sustainable Development on its Watercooler Blog. The post is here.

thanks for your thoughtful article… here is my reaction:

What is the priority here? High wages for Australians or high wages for Asians?

Building other economies up at the expense of your own economy makes no sense.

Love the re-invention of liberals and all conservatives to seem like they are progressive and balanced, it’s trendy to do it now is it to look cool…

Is ipa an advocacy think tank ,academic party political or what exactly does it fit into.

  3. janet says:

“apparatchick class” but somehow forgetting that he has never really held a job outside of politics.

TIM, we know you will enter the political arena in a couple of years, so during this time try to get a career in the real world and you might become a bit more balanced in your analysis of all things sustainable

  4. John says:

“SD supports a market-based approach” – why? If the market is doing something unsustainable, which if often does and, as is accepted by pretty much all who know anything about economics, sporadically prone to do, what does sustainable development have to say about that?

Talk about sheep in wolfs clothing, this is a cowardly attempt to rebrand conservative ideals as sustainable. They aren’t.

Maybe more left wing policies are unsustainable too, maybe they are equally hypocritical, but this is blatant fraud!

  5. Wes says:

When I read the article in the Bangkok paper it said “By invitation”… does this mean that he is on staff or he is just a guest writer by invitation?

  7. Pamela et al says:

We need conservatives/free marketeers who have great ideas and will contribute to the public sphere in a fabulous way and also look at the bigger picture.

He is media savvy and a great asset to the liberal party for the next generation.

Good luck to him in the coming years when he will shine in government i hope !!
